Training Positions

     Brooks Spinal Care has been a resource for educating and training chiropractors to prepare for opening their own practices or to become Associates. Fifty-four students and doctors have been in these positions during the past thirty-six years. There are three training positions available open to chiropractic students in their final term of professional school or to graduated chiropractors. Only one Preceptor or Intern position is available at any one time and only one Exam Doctor.

Preceptorship

     The preceptorship position is available to those students whose chiropractic college or university supports the student spending their final term of school in a doctor’s office. The preceptorship is arranged through the institution and approved by both the institution and Dr Robert Brooks.

     The preceptor learns by becoming a part of the health care team and participates in all parts of patient care except making spinal corrections. No compensation is paid to the preceptor and the educational institution creates a grade for the student for the final term prior to graduation.

Internship

     The intern position is open to graduates of chiropractic colleges and universities who do or do not have a license to practice chiropractic in the state of Oklahoma. You will learn office procedures, patient education and management. The internship is from three to six months and can be used to prepare for your own practice or to become an Exam Doctor or Associate with Brooks Spinal Care.

     As an intern you will become a part of the health care team and participate in all aspects of office procedures and patient care. You will benefit from participating in patient care in a practice that has seen 15,000 patients and continues to offer lifetime spinal care to a number of families. No compensation is paid to interns; this is a learning position.

Exam Doctor

     The Exam Doctor position is open to those chiropractors licensed in the state of Oklahoma. You will participate as a member of the health care team and in every aspect of patient care. You will have a number of responsibilities including patient histories, X-rays and examinations for which you will receive moderate compensation. This is a training position and you will benefit the most from your experience in our office.

     As an Exam Doctor you may wish to also participate as an associate in the practice and see your own patients. (See Associate Positions) You will attend all staff meetings and office functions both during and outside of the regular patient care hours.
